We had high hopes to see a lot of old route 66 today, but we were disappointed by how much is disappearing from this section of the Mother Road.

 The original plan had us taking the interstate from this point to the coast. However, I had programmed my GPS to avoid highways so we followed it to Solvang. I think it added four hours to the ride, but it was way more beautiful.

 We talk to each other via CB radios. If I lead, everything is pretty clear. If he leads, there is a lot of static. Go figure!

 There are some beautiful homes and views from the coastal roads.

 This mail box is at road level, the house is quite a bit higher. When we stopped, we saw the mailbox heading up the hill. A lady at the top was pulling it up a cable that it is connected to by rollers. This way she didn't have to walk down the steep hill and then back up. Pretty clever!

 The pool was inviting to these vroc guest.

VSP (very short person) was the first Vrocker that we saw when we arrived at the motel. He is trying to look important. (I think)<G>
